7 Footballers To Play For Both NUFC And Leicester City
6. Keith Gillespie
Newcastle United: 1995-98 League Appearances: 113 League Goals: 11 Leicester City: 2003-05 League Appearances: 42 League Goals: 2 Another member of Kevin Keegan's memorable Entertainers side, Keith Gillespie was the pacy winger who would run down the flanks and then whip delicious crosses into the box for the likes of Les Ferdinand to meet. Part of the swap-deal that saw Andy Cole go to Manchester United for £7 million in 1995, Gillespie spent three years on Tyneside - racking up 113 league appearances and 11 goals, plus countless assists. The 86-cap Northern Ireland international struggled with gambling throughout his career - estimating he lost more than £7 million to the addiction - and moved to Blackburn Rovers in 1998. A free transfer to Leicester City then followed in 2003, and during two seasons in the East Midlands Gillespie made 42 league appearances, scoring twice. Moves to Sheffield United, Bradford City, Glentoran, Darlington and Longford Town followed before Gillespie retired in 2013.
