7 Most Ridiculous Spurs Rumours That Never Happened
2. Diego Maradona To Manage Spurs
Whenever a manager leaves - or is on the verge of leaving - a Premier League club, the rumour mill is always rife with discussion about who might take over the reigns of said club. In Spurs' case, recent years have seen the likes of Louis van Gaal, Frank de Boer, Carlo Ancelotti, Marcello Lippi, Jurgen Klinsmann, David Moyes and Jose Mourinho's name mentioned in the same breath as the club - and all of those seemed somewhat plausible. However, amidst Andre Villas-Boas' troubled last days at Spurs, Italian website Sport Mediaset produced arguably the craziest potential manager claim surrounding the White Hart Lane club of all time. They suggested that legendary Argentinian player Diego Maradona was set to takeover the hot-seat at the club and while Daniel Levy may well be eccentric and audacious enough to consider him, the controversial former player would certainly have been a bold and crazy move on Spurs' part. Of course, Maradona did once turn out for Spurs in Ossie Ardiles€™ 1986 testimonial, so the idea might not actually be that far-fetched!
