7 Most Ridiculous Spurs Rumours That Never Happened

3. Marouane Chamakh To Spurs

In August of 2012, when Arsenal were still carrying the burden of disappointment-merchant Marouane Chamakh in their ranks, an unlikely link between the player and a certain rival club was touted in the media. Arsenal's North London neighbours Spurs were said to be in the running for the player - and that was crazy for a couple of reasons. First, he was garbage. Spurs might notoriously struggle up front, but Chamakh is far from being an upgrade on any strike-force the club have had since the turn of the millennium. Second, raiding bitter rivals Arsenal for one of their rejects? Unlikely! The rumour was refuted almost as quickly as it surfaced and, while it probably raised a few smiles at the Emirates stadium, the smiles won't have been anywhere near as big as those at White Hart Lane when it was confirmed as a mere crazy rumour. Chamakh now plays for Crystal Palace which, with all due respect to the Eagles, is certainly closer to his level.
