7 Newcastle Players Who Deserve A Chance To Help The Magpies Survive

7. Mehdi Abeid

Midfielder Mehdi Abeid has been in and out of the Magpies starting line-up in recent weeks - perhaps unfairly substituted at half-time in the 3-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur and then given just the final 30 minutes against Swansea City last weekend. Although far from the finished article, the 22-year-old Algerian offers much-needed energy in the middle of the park and is tireless in his work ethic. Possibly the fact he takes risks with his passing may count against him, but Newcastle's best performances this season - including the 2-0 win at Manchester City in the Capital One Cup - have tended to feature Abeid. His willingness to progress with the ball would give the Magpies some extra impetus in attack - if he was on the pitch for a full 90 minutes, that is.
