7 Newcastle Players Who Deserve A Chance To Help The Magpies Survive

6. Adam Armstrong

The somewhat curious case of Adam Armstrong does not look likely to be resolved anytime soon. Newcastle United supporters would love to see local lad Armstrong progress into a first-team regular - but as of yet it just hasn't happened for him. With seven goals in just six England Under-18 caps, as well as a prolific youth career previously, Armstrong clearly has striking pedigree of some form - but John Carver is adamant he is not ready for the first team. Maybe that is true, but is unfair to label the 18-year-old as such and then continue to use him as a bit-part substitute when the Magpies really need goals. In 10 Premier League appearances this season - the majority as a substitute - Armstrong has been allowed a combined total of just 194 minutes. Granted he has shown little in that time to suggest he can have a major impact this season - but the Magpies are desperate for goals right now, and so a proper run in the first team could give him the confidence to make the step up.
