Even though he's coming off a heart-stopping one shot KO of former champion Robbie Lawler and is in the midst of an impressive run of fights that includes victories over Kelvin Gastelum and Carlos Condit, there were still plenty of doubters who didn't view Tyron Woodley as a worthy champion. For whatever reason he rubs many fans the wrong way and they're unwiling to give the welterweight kingpin his due. In a division full of killers he should've earned more respect than he has.

One of those reasons is due to his suspect gas tank. In past fights he's shown that he has the wind to fight effectively for about eight minutes and then he starts to shut down. Part of the reason is the amount of energy he expends fighting in such an explosive manner and another is the muscle mass he has packed on to his 170-pound frame. Prior to tonight he'd never gone five rounds in the UFC and most expected "Wonderboy" to walk away with the belt if it went past the second.

Although he did show signs of gassing, "The Chosen One" managed to hang in there and keep up pressure for all 25 minutes, even after using an enormous amount of energy locking in a tight choke on his opponent. It was the biggest question mark surrounding his skillset, considered his primary weakness and he managed to prove that he can last in deep water against the toughest of challengers.

Stephen Thompson has dazzled audiences and confused those who stood across the octagon from him with one of the most unique styles in the sport. The karate specialist has been a puzzle for everyone he's faced and thus far only Matt Brown has been able to secure a victory over him. The question about Wonderboy has been does he have the ability to withstand punishment and survive an onslaught? Outside of a shot that dropped him from Jake Ellenberger we haven't really seen his chin tested, and Woodley was definitely the man for that job.

Not only did he show a notable chin he also displayed an extraordinary ability to recover from dangerous situations. Several times he looked on the verge of getting slept thanks to those mjolnirs Tyron calls fists, but he also made it out of a deep choke that looked to be the end of his night.

With the fight being declared a draw we're likely to see an immediate rematch - unless McGregor talks his way into fighting for a third title - and based on what we saw in the first one it could easily go either way.
