Season with NUFC: 2006/07 Appearances: 39, Goals: 8 A signing, concluded just two hours and twenty minutes before the transfer deadline in the summer of 2006, that was greeted with much cynicism from supporters who'd been spoiled the previous year when the Club splashed out on Michael Owen, Emre and Scott Parker in one transfer window. But with money tight and Glenn Roeder reduced to scouring the market for free agents little did we know that the 31-year-old French journeyman would go on to achieve cult hero status in his solitary season at St James' Park. Scoring on his debut in the UEFA Cup against Levadia Tallin, 'Super Sib' would add seven more in all competitions proving to be a key figure in Europe for the Magpies. Although now blessed with speed or technical skill it was Sibierski's work ethic and endeavour that won him the respect of the Toon faithful and it spoke volumes that we were disappointed when he was released at the end of the season with the club unwilling to sign off on his wish for a two-year contract.
