The Lie: The hype. Somewhere in the background at Sky Sports News there's a white board with a simple mantra: THIS IS THE MOST IMPORTANT DAY IN THE YEAR!!!! Everyone wears gold, the channel celebrates itself by showing the inner workings of how they bring all the coverage (which seems increasingly just to be looking at Twitter), and everything is dealt with with such hyperbole that it's impossible to judge how excited you're actually supposed to be. The worst lie Sky Sports tell everyone is that every single club will be doing business: they send 20 reporters out to stand outside training grounds around the country, even when the clubs have said there's no business to be done, and instruct them never to say "nothing is happening". Because at the end of the day, if anyone stops watching for even a minute, the world will undoubtedly end.
