8 Chelsea Flops Who Made It Big Elsewhere
3. Romelu Lukaku
At only 26, Romelu Lukaku has already played for six different teams and excelled everywhere except for Chelsea. He was still very young when he came to Stamford Bridge in 2011, but returned after getting some experience with West Brom.
During his time with the Blues, he struggled to force his way into the starting XI. Lukaku even cost Chelsea the UEFA Supercup trophy by missing the decisive penalty kick in the shootout loss to Bayern Munich, and after a few appearances off the bench, left for Everton in January 2014 in search of regular football.
The Belgian went on to score 87 times in 166 appearances for the Toffees in all competitions, something which impressed Chelsea so much that they were wanting to have him back, but were put off by Everton's huge asking price.
Their loss turned to be Manchester United's gain though, who swooped in soon after and following two good campaigns with them, is now balling in the Italian Serie A with Inter Milan.
