Chelsea must have been left kicking themselves after watching Kevin De Bruyne's impact in the Premier League with Manchester City. The Belgian has been a crucial member of Pep Guardiola's swashbuckling side that has cantered to numerous silverware success in the last few years.

However, his time with the Blues wasn't so smooth sailing. After returning to the Stamford Bridge following a mini loan spell with Werder Bremen, he started in the first game of the 2013/14 season but soon fell behind in the pecking order.

Jose Mourinho, who had returned to Chelsea for a second stint that year, bemoaned a lack of effort from De Bruyne at training and was subsequently sold to Wolfsburg in January 2014 where he excelled as a creative chieftain.

His heroics soon attracted Manchester City who swooped in with a then-club record fee on deadline day of 2015/16 season, and De Bruyne has achieved legendary status in the English top-flight ever since.
