8 Defenders That Will Be In Roy Hodgson's Provisional England Squad (And 1 That Won't)

4. Luke Shaw

Caps: 1 Goals: 0 A real breakthrough talent in the Premier League this season. At only 18 years old Shaw has demonstrated incredible progress and is now a regular starter for his club side Southampton. He has already accumulated over 50 appearances for the Saints and, if rumours are to be believed, is destined for a big money switch to Man Utd this summer. All of the hype surrounding Shaw is completely justified, he has electric pace, is technically very good on the ball and loves to attack. Shaw received his first England call up in the last Three Lions' game, a friendly against Denmark. On as a second half substitute, the defender quickly dispelled any doubts that he wasn't ready for international football with an assured performance. The young defender will be an England regular for years to come and deserves to be taken as cover for Baines this time around.
