8 Greatest 30-Somethings In World Football Right Now
5. Andres Iniesta
Since Zinedine Zidane hung up his boots in 2006, there has surely not been a more talented, aesthetically-pleasing midfielder than Andres Iniesta. The Spain and Barcelona legend is a truly phenomenal footballer, and he remains sublime to this day. Barca may not be quite the force they were three or four years ago, but Iniesta has lost none of his creative genius or wonderful dribbling as he has entered the 'veteran' stage of his career. The 30-year-old is a little injury-prone these days, but he has taken over the mantle from Xavi as his side's most important midfielder now, despite the signing of Ivan Rakitic and defensive brilliance of Sergio Busquets. The service he provides for the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Neymar is top draw, and his link-up play with them can be a joy to watch. Iniesta has won many La Liga titles, three Champions League crowns, two European Championships and a World Cup, and is comfortably one of the best midfielders in the history of the game. There are plenty of years left in him still, and we should enjoy every second of his genius while he's still around. What a player.
