Whether the man would publicly come out and say it or not, it's hard to imagine that Aberdeen boss, Derek McInnes wasn't at least a little interested in the possibility of taking over at Rangers. Having played for the club as a youngster, only leaving in the year 2000 to join West Bromwich Albion, McInnes is a Rangers fan, and it's tempting to suggest that he'd walk across broken glass to manage the side. Regardless of any links to the Gers, the man has done a fabulous job with Aberdeen. The club are still nowhere near being a top side in Scotland (the fact the club championed finishing 17 points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership last season proves that), but McInnes has pulled them up by the boot straps, turning them into a decent team. In the lead-up to the Summer months, Dave King - one of the most powerful men currently at Ibrox - outlined a number of candidates for the vacant manager position at Rangers, and it was clear to everyone that Derek McInnes was one of them. A rising young manager, McInnes has also been associated with rumours surrounding a possible move back into English football, but he was in the running to become manager of Glasgow Rangers just a month or so ago.
