8 Newcastle Players Who Should Be Embarrassed To Wear The Shirt

5. Tim Krul

When Tim Krul was out injured before Christmas, Newcastle fans were longing for the Dutch goalkeeper's return - but he has failed to live up to the high expectations he has set himself in the nine years previously. Although the defence must also take their portion of the blame, Krul has kept just two clean sheets in the 14 matches since he returned to the Magpies starting line-up - and he looks like another player who may have set his sights on pastures new. At least five goals during Newcastle's horrendous seven-game losing spell have been directly Krul's fault - including Swansea City's second, when the Dutchman's clearance landed straight at an opposition midfielder - and now is a time when the 27-year-old should be standing forward as one of the Magpies' leaders. He looks like he may be contemplating his future - when he should be sticking to the potentially-perilous task at hand to save Newcastle's Premier League status.
