8 Ridiculous Rangers Rumours That Never Happened

5. Selling Kris Boyd To Celtic

Back in the heady days of 2010, Kris Boyd was at the height of his poaching powers for Rangers and rumour had it that Celtic were looking to do a bit of poaching of their own. With Boyd coming to the end of his contract and with him looking certain to leave Ibrox, Celtic were supposedly in pole position to offer him a £30,000 per week contract to defect across the city. The story prompted an outraged reaction from both sides of the divide and led Celtic to make a contrary statement which concluded:
"We will not, repeat NOT, be making a bid for the player."
Boyd went on to enjoy unhappy spells with Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest, EskiŸehirspor and Portland Timbers before returning to Scotland with Kilmarnock in 2014. His second Rangers contract has just run out- will the Bhoys finally secure their man? Probably not.
