9 Awesome Things Ronda Rousey Has Done As UFC Champion
9. Fought On Short Notice/Saved Cards To Help Out The Company
This has happened more than once, frankly. Most recently, it's UFC 193 in Australia, set to be possibly the biggest UFC event to date. It wasn't supposed to be that way, however. The original card had welterweight champion Robbie Lawler taking on Carlos Condit, a dream match-up for many fans. However, an injury to Lawler left the card without a main event. Then Ronda Rousey, who was scheduled to defend her title in January against Holly Holm, was announced as the headliner, once against saving the day, just as she did at UFC 184 (where she was bumped up to the main event due to a Chris Weidman injury) and UFC 170, which had no solid headliner until Rousey agreed to fight just two months after defeating Miesha Tate for the second time. Now, UFC 193 is taking place in a stadium in Melbourne, and may beat the attendance record set in Toronto's Skydome. Thanks, Ronda!
