9 Awesome Things Ronda Rousey Has Done As UFC Champion
8. She Has Spoken Out For A Clean Sport
To be fair, a lot of Ronda Rousey's anti-drug sentiment comes from her dislike of the woman considered to be her greatest potential foe, Cristiane "Cyborg" Justino. Cyborg is a 145lb killer who holds Invicta's feathweight title. She's a heavy-handed beast in the cage who knocks other women unconscious. Since day one, when they both were in Strikeforce, fans have wanted to see them face off. However, Rousey dropped weight to bantamweight, instead claiming the bantamweight title in Strikeforce and then jumping into the UFC when they purchased the promotion. Rousey became the first female UFC champion; Cyborg became the fight that never was. She wound up taking Tito Ortiz as a manger, who claimed it would dangerous to her health to cut weight to 135 - that she might never have children as a result of the weight cut. Since the UFC has no featherweight division, Cyborg was the odd girl out, and went to Invicta. Justino has since stated that she's committed to making 135lbs, as Rousey refuses to meet her at a catch-weight, however there's another issue: Cyborg in the past tested positive for anabolic steroids, and was suspended for the better part of a year as a result. Rousey has been vocal about her cheating, and has been a champion for a clean sport. You can't fault her for it, because it's exactly what she should be saying, and she has led by example, passing every single drug test ever given to her.
