9 Awesome Things Ronda Rousey Has Done As UFC Champion
7. Rousey Continues To Support Judo, The Sport That Made Her What She Is Today
Ronda Rousey would not be where she is today without Judo (she took Bronze in the 2008 Olympic Games), and continues to support it, even if one of the sport's governing bodies has turned its back on mixed martial arts. That last part actually came by way of the French MMA governing body, who announced an immediate ban for any judoka competing in MMA. There's no doubt other federations had similar feelings, as their sport continues to be overshadowed by mixed martial arts. Well, Rousey is the most famous judoka to ever fight in MMA, but despite te bad blood, she hasn't forgotten her roots. In March 2015, she donated $30,000 to Instituto Recao, a Brazilian judo school. That's pretty impressive, especially considering that to that point, Rousey hadn't even fought in Brazil, let alone spent much time there. Still, Judo is a small world, and the school takes in many impoverished youths and gives them something to focus on.
