9 Lessons Learned From The Ultimate Fighter Season 20 Premiere

8. The Back Stories Are Interesting

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KW07W5QgvqU Randa Markos escaped the war-torn middle east to come to Canada when she was a child, travelling with her family, who witnessed horrible atrocities as they escaped their home. In their adopted country, they found peace and success. Aisling Daly had to take a year off from the sport as she was diagnosed with depression. Rose Namajunas had a rough start in life, but found that martial arts gave her an outlet, and is currently dating former UFC star Pat Berry. Angela Magana trains in Thailand with a coach who pushes her so hard she claims he'd be in jail in the U.S., and has a house there, where she lives with her daughter (who also apparently trains). She's a fierce competitor not looking to make friends and out only to win. Angela Hill didn't even have a pro fight when she first tweeted Dana White about the show, and picked up her first win this past Spring so that she could get to the TUF tryouts. She also comes from New York - the only state to still have MMA outlawed. These fighters are daughters, mothers, sisters, and they've got such a wide variety of back stories that it's a nice change, and probably the most personable group since TUF 17.
