9 Lessons Learned From The Ultimate Fighter Season 20 Premiere

9. The Coaches Aren't the Focus

Anthony Pettis is lightweight champ in the UFC. Gilbert Melendez is the current title challenger. They'll be fighting in December. On the first episode of TUF 20, we barely noticed them - and that's a good thing. Sure, they are present, with the coaches breaking down the fights as always after the fact. We see a bit of their style - Pettis is cocky, claiming he'll win every fight, and asking fighters who could potentially be on his team who they want to fight for point blank, himself or Melendez. Melendez, for his part, is much more laid back. That's about it though. It's the girls who are the star of the show. Lets hope that continues. Previous seasons, such as Chael Sonnen vs. Jon Jones, had too much focus on the coaches (even if Sonnen turned out to be a great coach).
