Brad Friedel's attempt to open a non-profit Soccer Academy resulted in the Spurs, Aston Villa and Liverpool keeper to lose around $10m.

The academy, which opened in 2007, failed to get corporate sponsorships after the financial crisis in 2008 and closed shortly thereafter leaving Friedel with large debts and filing for bankruptcy.
