9 Reasons Why Charlie Austin Should Sign For Newcastle
7. It'll Improve His England Prospects
It is fair to say that, the majority of the time, being a Newcastle United or Sunderland player harms your England prospects. The likes of Steven Taylor, Jack Colback and Kevin Nolan have all been overlooked while wearing the black-and-white-striped shirt - but the opposite is likely to be true for Austin. Roy Hodgson, who is still yet to regularly venture to St James' Park during his reign as England boss, has already proven he is willing to pick Austin - no matter which club he is playing for. Selected for the Three Lions squad at the end of the season for matches against Ireland and Slovenia, Austin may not have been given any gametime but the QPR forward was still included in the first place. Once again with Newcastle it comes down to playing regularly for his club side. If Austin elects to move to Chelsea or Manchester United and does not play regularly then his international ambitions will suffer accordingly. If, however, he opts to ply his trade at St James' Park and becomes the central focus of the Newcastle side then Austin will rack up an even greater number of goals - and force his way firmly into Hodgson's England plans.
