9 Terrible Swansea City Signings That Utterly Failed

9. Jordi Lopez

During the time of Paulo Sousa's reign at the Liberty, Jordi Lopez was one of the first "exciting" signings to arrive under the former Champions League winning Portuguese footballing icon. Sousa had worked with Lopez during his time at QPR and clearly wanted to work with the UEFA Cup winning player again. Considering Lopez had such high ranking honours in his résumé and a strong list of former clubs (including Real Madrid, Barcelona and Sevilla) it was safe to say that the Swansea fans were very optimistic to see how he could fit into our already strong Spanish contingent. Unfortunately he was the ragged, useless, slightly chewed round peg going into a square hole. The Spaniard made a total of 15 starts in two seasons and eventually had his contract cancelled by mutual consent after failing to impress Sousa or his successor, Brendan Rodgers, one bit. The midfielder moved onto Vitesse Arnhem immediately after and now plays his trade for Llagostera, who have just been promoted to the Spanish second tier. Maybe more his level.
