All 21 Geordies Who Have Played For Newcastle In The Premier League

14. Michael Chopra

Born: Newcastle-upon-Tyne Newcastle United: 2000-06 Position: Forward Premier League Appearances: 21 Premier League Goals: 1 One of the various young forwards the Magpies have had in the reserves down the years who have banged in goals for fun but simply failed to make the grade once they've reached the first team, Chopra made 21 Premier League appearances for Newcastle between 2000 and 2006. Loan spells at Watford, Nottingham Forest and Barnsley failed to bring the best out of him so he has since played for clubs including Sunderland, Cardiff City, Ipswich Town - and even Kerala Blasters in India, where he has relatives. In January 2013 Chopra was found guilty of "suspicious betting activity" regarding horse-racing exchanges and the Newcastle-born forward was given a 10-year ban from racing by the British Horseracing Authority.
