That solitary appearance came against Manchester City in May 2004 when he replaced Laurent Robert for the final 15 minutes of the game - although another claim to fame he has is that he started the 1-0 victory over Mansfield Town in the FA Cup third round in January 2006 when Alan Shearer equalled Jackie Milburn's Newcastle scoring record.
