Anzhi 0-2 Tottenham: Defoe & Chadli Seal A Comfortable Victory For Spurs

Tottenham's Jermain Defoe and Nacer Chadli both scored in the first-half to put the London side four points clear in Group K of the Europa League. In a match with very few clear-cut opportunities, it was the visitors who broke the deadlock. Defoe rifled a shot into the roof of the net from inside the area after half an hour to make it 1-0 to Tottenham. Minutes later, his teammate Nacer Chadli doubled the Londoneers lead after finishing past the keeper from close range. The visitors were on top for the duration of the first-half and a depleted Anzhi showed little sign of a comeback. Spurs manager Andres Villas-Boas would have been happy with his side's patient and effective play in the first-half as Tottenham appeared more than comfortable while being put under very little pressure from the Russian Premier League outfit. After the break, Anzhi had a penalty shout waved away when Pavel Solomatin went down in the box after being in close pursuit by Tottenham defender Younes Kaboul, but the referee was unmoved. The visitors continued to coast through the second half without breaking a sweat and eventually saw the game out to wrap up a convincing victory away from home.
