Arsenal: 8 Incredible Urban Legends You Didn't Know About

5. Henry Signed For Arsenal On An Aeroplane

There was no secret about the fact that Thierry Henry and Arsene Wenger had worked together before the adopted father/son duo set the Premier League alight as both had worked at Monaco. The story that most fans might not know is how the two came to be reunited at Highbury many years later. During a flight from Turin to Paris, a younger, significantly less grey Wenger - still in his dearly departed professor glasses no doubt - took a break from eating his peanuts and quaffing champagne in his first class seat to head to the toilet, and noticed the beaming grin of his ex player sitting in another seat. The pair traded 'Bonjours' and by the end of the conversation had decided to change the footballing world of Arsenal forever. Henry spoke of the incident later and said: "Sometimes, destiny is weird. After the Juventus game at the end of the season I went back to Paris. And who was on the plane? The boss was on the plane. That is when I told him I would love to join Arsenal." So Is It True? It is indeed: Thierry Henry recounted the occasion during an interview in 2013.
