Another explanation of why Arsenal have not been dominant since 2005 is the amount of top class players Wenger has let go, whereas Sir Alex Ferguson managed to persuade Cristiano Ronaldo to stay at Old Trafford for another season and it paid dividends as United went on to become Champions with the help of Ronaldo€™s 18 league goals.

This summer Wenger has already allowed right back Bacary Sagna to join rivals Manchester City on a free transfer, despite the player being one of Arsenal€™s most reliable performers and providing the perfect service for striker Oliver Giroud. Next season if Edin Dzeko plays consistently for City, he will score a handful of goals directly thanks to the advanced wing-play of Sagna.

There is a constant excuse why players leave Arsenal: with the apparent lack of ambition and no silverware for years, it became a lot easier for the likes of Fabregas and Van Persie to leave, so hopefully now that Arsenal ended the nine-year drought for a trophy they can persuade Ramsey, Walcott and Giroud to stay at The Emirates despite interest from other clubs.
