Arsenal: Best Ever Premier League 11

Best Central Midfielder 2: Cesc Fabregas

fabregas The only midfielder in this team that did not feature for the Invincible team, Cesc Fabregas was slowly finding his feet in the team by the time Arsenal won the title in 2004. When judged with the other players in this list in terms of medals, Fabregas would be the most questionable choice in the line-up. But, from 2007 until his sad departure for boyhood club Barcelona in 2011, it was indubitable that he was the best player in the Arsenal team. Fabregas was the catalyst for everything that was good about the Arsenal team at that point; quick, intelligent, skillful, determined, the Spaniard could pick a pass as well as any player that has competed in the Premier League, and would provide chance after chance for the strikers, as well as take a few chances to score himself. Fabregas on his best day was virtually unplayable, and is probably one of only a couple of players since 2004 that would seamlessly fit into the Invincible side. With regards to medals, Fabregas did not enjoy the most glory-filled time at Arsenal, with only one FA Cup and one Community Shield victory to fill space in his trophy cabinet from his days in England. Fabregas had the misfortune to arrive on the scene as Arsenal's Premier League dominance and stature fell into a decline, and while was still one of the best teams in the league, he could not drag the team towards more medals than this. Fabregas had many close shaves, with his undoubted quality being best demonstrated on European nights, with his goal against Milan in 2008 being the prime example of his star shining on the global stage. He did experience individual success at Arsenal, winning the PFA Young Player of the Year Award in 2008 after guiding Arsenal through an impressive league campaign, but it is a shame that the club were unable to reward him with the titles and trophies that his talent and work-rate certainly merited. Fabregas now is experiencing plenty of success at Barcelona, but many Arsenal fans still live in hope that he will eventually return to Arsenal in the near future. Other contenders: Ray Parlour, Alex Song
