Arsenal Transfer News: Gunners Reject Santos Leaving Today

Andre Santos Arsene Wenger has moved to right one of the biggest wrongs of his recent managerial career by sending Brazilian reject Andre Santos out of the club. According to the MailOnline, Brazilian side Gremio have confirmed that Santos will officially complete his loan move today, confirming speculation that the full-back was about to return to South America sparked when he was photographed arriving in Brazil on Sunday. The Brazilians will unveil the 29-year-old as their latest recruit today at 2pm local time following his medical. Santos, who only made 26 appearances for Arsenal (scoring four goals), signed from Fenerbahce for £6.8million back in August 2011, and he has lofty aspirations for his new club, telling Gremio's official website "I came to be a champion with the club." His goals return might have been impressive considering his appearances, and his position, but the Brazil international has found himself further down the pecking order at Emirates Stadium after the deadline day signing of Spanish full-back Nacho Monreal, with England left-back Kieran Gibbs also ahead of him. And according to the Mail, he has been told he is now surplus to requirements. On Sunday picture on Twitter of Santos arriving in Brazil, where he last played for Corinthians in 2008-2009, showing the full-back being greeted by cheering fans. And Santos' Arsenal teammate Lukas Podolski used his own Twitter account to send the Brazilian a parting message: "@Andre-santos27 We will miss you man, I wish u all the very best £Gunner God bless you".
