Arsenal Transfer News: Karim Benzema Won't Leave Real Madrid For Gunners

reports the Guardian. Le Journal du Dimanche featured an interview with the player's agent Karim Djaziri, who was adamant the player will be staying put at the Bernabau.

We can not fight against the rumours, but I assure you Karim will not go to Arsenal. There has never been any discussions and no contact has been established.
He went on to say;
We are working on a contract extension for three years," he said. "Discussions are taking place quietly, without deadline. Karim could well end his career at Real, the club of his dreams.
If true, this is yet another major setback for Arséne Wenger in the transfer market. The 25-year-old French international striker became a target after it became clear that Luis Suarez was staying put at Liverpool, for the time being at least. With a week to go in the transfer market, and literally no signings of any major significance made at Arsenal despite a reputed £70 million war chest, it seems that the Wenger frugality approach is to the fore once more. Whether this is by choice or design is another question, but the lack of new faces has worried the Arsenal faithful, and the bad news seems to be coming thick and fast. Who should Arsenal sign?
