Arsenal Transfer News: Wenger Back In For French Enforcer?
Are Arsenal about to replace Alex Song with Rennes' Yann M'Vila?
"He has a very concrete offer from England."That confirmation has already set tongues wagging about M'Vila's possible defection to North London: after all Arsenal have been linked with a move for the player for a good portion of the summer with reports released before Euro 2012 suggesting that he had already 'agreed' a four-year deal at the Emirates Stadium, according to Sport360. That deal, which the same source have put at around 22million failed to materialise, and Arsene Wenger subsequently ruled out a move for the player last month, suggesting that he has enough cover in the squad to make M'Vila's signature unnecessary:
No . We wait on Diaby and Wilshere. When you look we have Song, Ramsey, Coquelin, Wilshere, Arteta and Diaby. In defensive midfielders and box-to-box players we are not short if they are all coming back. If we have setbacks in pre-season it could be different. That situation may well have now changed, after Alex Song's suggested move to Barcelona came a step closer yesterday, and Wenger might well be back in the market for a replacement for the Cameroonian before the transfer window closes on August 31st. It is far from certain that Arsenal are the player's possible destination, with Manchester rivals City and United said to also be interested, but he would certainly represent a strong replacement for Song. M'Vila himself has recently declared that he is in no rush to leave Rennes, as quoted on Goal.com:
For the moment, I am here, I am well, I'm not complaining, I play. I must play good matches. While I am here, I am the disposal of the coach and I must do the best possible. The transfer window ends on September 4, so I will not lose my head. If I must stay another year or more, I will stay. If I must go, that's life. But if I stay here, I will be 100 per cent concentrated.M'Vila joined Rennes at 15 years old, and has so far made 110 first-team appearances for the French club.
