Arsenal Transfers: 10 Deals That Could Happen In January
6. Joao Moutinho IN
Like Southampton, Monaco have offloaded a number of key players in the past 12 months. Radamel Falcao joined Manchester United on a season-long loan with a view to sealing a permanent move, while James Rodriguez left for Real Madrid to become the latest Galactico. A depleted squad coupled with a subsequent dip in form has sparked rumours Joao Moutinho could abandon the Monaco revolution and force a move to the Premier League this January. Despite interest from Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester United, the Portuguese insists he's happy to remain at the Stade Louis II for the time being.
He said: I am not thinking about the January window, nor am I thinking about the end of the season. I dont want anything to do with that. I am focused on Monaco.
Take Moutinho out of the squad and Monaco look incapable of matching Paris Saint-Germain, so it's likely the Ligue 1 giants will want to keep hold of their remaining big-name player. The 28-year-old's all-action style is perfect for the Premier League, so an offer from Arsenal, a side in need of a midfield reshuffle, could be tempt him. It all depends whether Monaco are open to negotiating a deal for their talisman. Probability: 6/10
