Arsenal Transfers - 10 Dream Replacements For Thomas Vermaelen

3. Neven Subotic

Could Arsenal revive their interest in Neven Subotic this summer? The Gunners have a long-standing interest in the Borussia Dortmund centre-half that dates back to 2009 with Arsene Wenger linked with a £12 million deal for the then-20-year-old. Nothing came to fruition but a move could feasibly be rekindled this summer. Subotic has just returned to first team action at Dortmund having sat out virtually all of his side's Bundesliga campaign in 2013-14 due to a knee injury but is raring to go again following eight months on the sidelines and could be tempted with a fresh challenge at this stage in his career having spent the last six years at the Westfalenstadion. A strong and dependable centre-half, Subotic comes with a wealth of experience having marshalled his side to back-to-back Bundesliga titles in 2010-11 and 2011-12 as well as helping them reach the Champions League final last year. In that final, he made an amazing goal-line intervention to prevent Bayern Munich's Arjen Robben from scoring a certain goal which shows you exactly what he's capable of when fit. If the Serbian can stay clear of injury, he is one of the world's best in his position and would be a fantastic addition at the Emirates.
