1. Dennis Bergkamp
(Holland. 1995 - 2006. 423 Appearances, 120 Goals.) Ironically, the player who has perhaps had the biggest influence on the pitch under Arsene Wenegr, was not even one of the French managers own transfers. Signed by Bruce Rioch in the summer of 1995, Dennis Bergkamp remained at Arsenal for eleven years, a period in which the club bathed in glory. Like other great players included on this list, Bergkamp took his time to settle at Highbury, but slowly finding his feet, he went on to become a player widely credited as being the best ever in an Arsenal shirt. Delighting fans with his incredible skill, making the hardest task look effortless and obtaining a cool and calm demeanour in the biggest games. In my personal view, Dennis Bergkamp changed the English game, he had everything, a complete master on the football field. Not only was the Dutchman adored by Arsenal fans, but many times during his career he received standing ovations from opposition support. He treated football fans to some of the best ever goals and individual performances ever witnessed. To name a few, the sublime hat-trick against Leicester City, his thunderbolt against Bolton Wanderers, the way in which he created his goal against Newcastle United - back to goal, flicking the ball around the defender and swivelling his body to then slide the ball past Shay Given into the net with an ice-cold finish - Dennis Bergkamp was a unique and special footballer. After achieving three league titles and three FA Cups with the Gunners, he retired from football at the end of the 2005/2006 campaign (the last season at Highbury) with his testimonial match being the first ever game held at the brand new Emirates Stadium, resulting in a 2-1 win for Arsenal over his hometown club Ajax. A true Arsenal legend, how the Arsenal fans would love to see a player of his calibre gracing the Emirates turf right now.
