Arsenal Transfers: 10 Players Wenger Must Sign To Secure Title

10. Granit Xhaka (Borrusia Monchengladbach)

Last Summer, Granit Xhaka was compared to Bastian Schweinsteiger by Ottmar Hitzfeld. That's quite the pressure to put on a young man's shoulders, but Xhaka managed to make an impression as part of Switzerland's World Cup 2014 squad. He's a midfielder by trade, but can play in more advanced positions if called upon. This kind of flexibility would appeal to Arsene Wenger, who may have found over the past few seasons that many of his midfield and strike positions have been ravaged by injury. If players such as Jack Wilshere, Aaron Ramsey and even Theo Walcott were found on the injury list, huge gaps would appear in the side that desperately need numbers to help pad them out. Xhaka could be ideal for this, but probably wouldn't come cheap for Arsenal. Around £20 million is what is estimated to make Xhaka a Gunner. The player is 23 years of age, so his best years are certainly ahead of him, but the signing would come at a risk given the price. After all, Xhaka has never played in the Premier League. That said, he does seem like a promising young talent - currently on the books at Borrusia Monchengladbach - and Wenger's side do need numbers.
