2. Francis Jeffers

Francis Jeffers notoriously was the legendary 'fox in the box' Arsene Wenger had been searching for to aid Dennis Bergkamp in Arsenal's goal-scoring exploits. It seemed like a great idea at the time. After all, the then young Liverpudlian striker netted a healthy amount of goals for Everton before he made the £10 million move to North London.

However, nagging injuries, an alleged poor attitude in training and the fact that he was battling for places with the man who would eventually become Arsenal's top goalscorer of all time meant that Jeffers would never quite make the grade at Arsenal or anywhere else for that matter.

In fact, although he was supposed to be the next England number 9, he's only managed to score 40 goals in his career. Is he the worst £10 million Arsenal have ever spent on a player? Probably.
