Finally getting the chance over Steve Harper, Krul quickly consolidated his spot with some outstanding performances resulting in him breaking into the Netherland's national squad. He was an ever present in Newcastle's 5th place finish in the 2011/12 season, that was based from a solid goalkeeper and back four.
