Arsenal Transfers: 5 AVAILABLE Strikers Wenger Should Sign

4. Alvaro Negredo

The Daily Mail suggested Chelsea were interested in swooping for Alvaro Negredo for £16 million days before the January transfer window opened, but instead the Blues hierarchy opted for Demba Ba. That leaves the door open for a different move for the Spaniard, who has a Euro 2012 gold medal in his trophy cabinet and a history of scoring goals. He's into double figures this season at the halfway stage and hasn't failed to score 15 in a season for over three years. Negredo combines power and pace and thrives ahead of a clutch of creative players in Jesus Navas, Ivan Rakitic and Jose Antonio Reyes. Arsenal could provide a similar formation and a similar glut of chances. What's stopping the deal? If Arsene Wenger goes to Spain, there are other targets he'd perhaps rather go for. Manager Michel will have been wiping his brow when the Chelsea interest faded, and in truth there are some slightly better options to poach from La Liga.
