Arsenal Transfers: 5 Centre Backs Wenger Should Sign

3. Matthias Ginter (SC Freiburg)

Wenger€™s love for all things German football could continue this summer if he makes a move for Matthias Ginter. The young centre back has impressed this season, even earning his first cap for the German national side. With Per Mertesacker, Lukas Podolski and Mesut Ozil at the club, the Gunners already have a strong German contingent amongst their ranks. No doubt if a move was to happen, some helpful advice from the trio would certainly aid the signing of any deal and make Ginter feel more at home in London. In terms of his style, the Freiburg defender is a tall player who is very good in possession. At 6ft 3in he is an ideal height for a centre back looking to compete in the Premier League. His composure and ball skills have seen him occasionally deployed as a holding midfielder, an area Arsenal are also light in. For a while it had been touted that Arsenal were leading the race to sign the youngster, with a bid of around £8million on the table. However, circumstances appear to be changing and Borussia Dortmund are supposedly making moves. Wenger must act fast if he wishes to secure this talented 20-year-old.
