4. Kurt Zouma
Given the strong French flavour at the Gunners they might easily go for a young compatriot of Koscielny. Saint-Etienne's Zouma is the name most consistently linked with joining Arsenal in the defensive department. Although uncapped by Les Bleus at senior international level, Zouma was called into Didier Deschamps's last squad to cover ironically enough for Koscielny. Perhaps Wenger can make that arrangement for club as well as country. At just 19 years of age, Zouma only has about 50 senior club appearances to his name. What attracts Arsenal to him though is his height. Zouma is 6 foot 2, which may not give Mertesacker a run for his money in the air, but would add a potentially imposing partner alongside him. If the rumoured asking price of a mere
£7 million is right, Wenger should swoop and quickly. Why? Because Zouma is being tracked by fellow Premier League heavyweights Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea.
