Arsenal Transfers: 5 Forwards To Replace Injured Theo Walcott

2. Dimitar Berbatov

There might be a short-term solution to Arsenal's striker shortage across London at Fulham. Bulgarian luxury player Berbatov also used to play for Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United, but Wenger is hardly in a position to worry about a talent that once turned out for old enemies. A relegation dogfight is neither the time nor the place for Berbatov. Fulham are in one and need urgency and hard work rather than graceful skill. Berbatov's ability to slow the game down looks tailor-made for the Gunners style. Berbatov has so much in common with Arsenal's supporting cast. Clever touches and silky footwork are abundant there in the form of Santi Cazorla, Ozil and others. The Daily Express says that Wenger is considering a cut-price £2 million swoop for Berbatov. Unlike the other names on our list so far, he has not played Champions League football at Craven Cottage this term and is therefore not cup-tied. Like all transfer rumours though, it depends which papers you read. The Mail meanwhile reports Wenger has denied interest in Berbatov, who turns 33 at the end of January. He would bring huge experience to the Gunners, but quick fixes are not usually the way of things at the Emirates.
