Arsenal Transfers: 5 Players Arsene Wenger Could Spend His £70 Million On

3. Victor Wanyama

Victor Wanyama Another department that Arsenal are lacking in is in centre midfield, and the Gunners haven't really excelled in this department since losing Patrick Vieira and, more recently but perhaps to a lesser extent, Alex Song. Though Jack Wilshere clearly provides the club with a very bright future in central midfield, his injury record and lack of experience are worrying causes of concern. He missed the whole of the 2011/12 season with ankle and knee injuries while he was struck by a second ankle injury in March that ruled him out for a further 6 weeks. Arsenal cannot rely on Wilshere in centre midfield all the time and therefore need to bring in another player, to add depth to the squad if nothing else. The Gunners are keen on Celtic's Victor Wanyama and the powerfully-built Kenyan international possesses many of the same traits as Manchester City's Yaya Toure, just to give you an idea of how good he is. His purchase would really beef up Arsenal's midfield and also provide them with a more potent aerial threat from set-pieces. If the Gunners want to stop opponents from bullying their lightweight midfielders - as has been the case down the years - then they really are going to need a bid of steel in the centre of the park. Cost: £10 million
