Despite a difficult relationship with the Madrid fans this season, Benzema has not made any noises that indicate he wishes to leave the club. He has been booed on numerous occasions by the Bernabeu faithful for several shocking misses, many of which a toddler could score, but he seems determined to carry on. He has received backing from his manager Carlo Ancelotti, who said he lacked confidence and just needed to build it back up again, and despite rumours of a move to Arsenal in the summer, his agent claimed that Benzema did not fancy a transfer. With the departure of Higuain in the summer, Benzema has become the main recognised striker at the club alongside youngster Alvaro Morata, and he has started looking like a proper attacker. He already has nine goals in the league, but this only goes so far with a team including Ronaldo and Gareth Bale. The latter has also been used in a central position on occasion, and has become yet another rival for Benzema to contend with. This all points to a possibly unhappy striker looking for a move, but as yet a transfer doesn't look like coming to fruition in the near future. This means that the Gunners would have to fork out even more money not only to persuade Madrid to accept a bid but also to urge the Frenchman to move, money that at the end of the day that could end up being wasted if Benzema does not fulfil expectation. A move would be a huge statement of intent for the Gunners, but you just can't help but think that a frugal man such as Wenger will find a cheaper alternative to the vastly overpriced Benzema, meaning a move for his compatriot is unlikely.
