Arsenal Transfers: 5 Signings Arsene Wenger Needs To Avoid Disaster

5. Julio Cesar

julio cesar Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is in the market for a new goalkeeper and has been linked with the Queens Park Rangers No.1 for much of the summer. Wenger wants to bring in a keeper with experience who can provide some serious competition to Wojciech Szczesny, who put in a series of shaky performances last season and was benched for key games on a number of occasions. The Pole lost his place to reserve team goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski toward the end of the season and only regained it after his compatriot's campaign was curtained by a rib injury. Cesar is set to leave QPR following their relegation to the Championship in May and after a successful Confederations Cup competition that saw the Brazilian guide his country to glory against Spain and also win the Golden Glove, he's been on the radar of a string of Italian clubs. Napoli and Fiorentina have both come close to signing the 33-year-old, but Arsenal remain in the chase after both sides pulled out. And that leaves the door wide open for the Gunners to make a bid for the former Inter Milan keeper, which would be a smart move seeing as though Wenger hasn't had a world-class No.1 since David Seaman.
