2. Wayne Rooney
Despite new Manchester United manager David Moyes insisting at his first official press conference last Friday that Wayne Rooney was "not for sale", Arsenal
remain confident that a deal can yet be struck for the apparently unsettled 27-year-old. That is because, according to the report, although Moyes issued a "hands off" warning, he declined to state whether the striker actually wants to stay at Old Trafford. It is clear that the Premier League champions don't want to sell, but Rooney may have other ideas. Rooney is thought to be unhappy by the fact he was forced into playing in an unfamiliar midfield role last season and was also disgruntled by the fact he was dropped for a crucial Champions League fixture against Real Madrid. He didn't feature in either of United's final two league games and was jeered by fans when he collected his Premier League winner's medal and again during the club's open top bus parade through Manchester. And if he decides on a fresh start this summer, Arsenal are one possible option, along with London rivals Chelsea.
