Arsenal Transfers: 5 Theo Walcott Replacements Wenger Must Sign

Hatem Ben Arfa

Ben Arfa has been linked to Arsenal a few times already this summer, and would appear to be the most competent replacement if Theo Walcott were to leave. In my opinion he€™s better than Walcott and at 25, would appear to be finally fulfilling his potential. He€™s played for France at every level since U16 and has always been tipped for great things by the French press. He has justified his hype by starring for an over-achieving Newcastle side, helping them to a 5th place finish in the EPL. Ben Arfa has breath-taking talent in one-on-one situations with an array of skills and turns to match the very best in the business. He can score from distance too and is handy at set pieces too which would make him ideal for Arsenal. He€™s stated that he€™s happy at Newcastle, but could be tempted by a good offer from elsewhere. Arsene Wenger is a known admirer and an offer of around £16 million could force Newcastle€™s hand. On a final note, I personally think that Arsenal should do their best to keep Walcott. I think he still has great potential and his pace is an attribute no other player can match. If he were to leave however, it would be for a fee in the region of £20 million, which means that any replacement could be directly funded by his sale. Muniain or Ben Arfa would be nice, but ideally they should try to keep Walcott as he develops into a great player. He€™s only 23 remember.
