Arsenal Transfers: 6 Strikers Wenger Must Consider Before Deadline

5. Jackson Martinez (Porto)

Recent speculation concerning the FC Porto striker, Jackson Martinez, centred on the fact that the player was a boyhood Arsenal fan, and thus would likely be open to a move to the club, but that partly ignores the fact of how much of a good fit he would be for Wenger, regardless of his affiliation with the club. Wenger needs a clinical striker, who will put the ball in the back of the net at the end of some of the exceptional attacking play that his midfield is displaying at the moment, and Martinez has already hit 15 goals in 21 games in all competitions so far this season. Add that short term form to the fact that the Martinez has scored a phenomenal 38 goals in just 44 appearances, and his appeal becomes patently obvious. Last year the 27 year old Columbian striker hit 26 league goals, and he is an instrumental part of his national side set-up. Martinez's out and out striker style is precisely what Wenger needs, and though he would likely cost a lot of money, he should be front and centre on the list of considered candidates.
