Arsenal Transfers: 6 Strikers Wenger Must Consider Before Deadline
4. Demba Ba (Chelsea)
If Chelsea do manage to force through a move for either Diego Costa or another high-profile, high-cost striker before the end of the day, they will be forced to concede that one of their strikers is surplus to requirements. The likelihood is that Jose Mourinho would stick by Samuel Eto'o, who has enjoyed the most success on the pitch this season, and Fernando Torres, who would be counted even more of a flop if he was unceremoniously shunted out of the door even now. Which leaves Demba Ba, the former Newcastle United striker who has in the past attracted overtures for Wenger (as well as his former club.) Newcastle were quoted £3m to sign Ba for the season on loan, and Arsenal almost tied up a similar deal, only for Chelsea to block the loan move on transfer deadline day in the summer. Back then, Ba wanted to move in order to play, as he told Sky Sports, and he is still seeing his game time limited, so he may well represent a smart move for Arsenal to bring in on loan until the end of the season. He certainly knows where the goal is, and his powerful approach would compliment Giroud's style well.
