Arsenal Transfers: 7 Strikers Wenger Must Buy To Replace Van Persie

5. Robert Lewandowski

The Pole burst on the the scene last season when he was an integral part of Borrusia Dortmund's Bundesliga and DFB- Pokal Cup double, scoring 30 goals in all competitions, including a hat-trick in the DFB- Pokal Cup Final. The 2011/12 Bundesliga Player of the Season has also shone in an international shirt with 15 goals in his 45 appearances and Dortmund seem understandably unwilling to part company with the striker. Arsene Wenger may hope that the draw of the Premier League may be enough to attract Lewandowski to the north London club. Interest has also come in the shape of European champions Chelsea, who made a bid of £17 million for the man, but were told by the German club that an offer closer to the £35 million mark is necessary to bring Lewandowski to London. However, his addition could possibly provide the much sought after replacement for Van Persie and considering that Lewandowski is 5 years his junior, many claim he has the potential to become a better player than the Dutchman.
